Problem
Two co-founders are clashing in every board meeting. The Chair didn’t want to take sides and the Board suggested business and workplace mediation as a next step.
Actions taken
We arranged a pre-meeting with each participant to understand their role in the company and what they were looking to achieve in the mediation. A date was agreed for the mediation to take place over six hours. Each co-founder was given the opportunity to share their experiences and consider in private their wants and needs as well as the art of the possible. The aim was to create a forum for effective conversation and to reach a solution workable for both co-founders through a combination of individual and group sessions.
Outcomes
Through effective neutral facilitation, the co-founders were able to safely and constructively engage in candid conversations. They each felt seen and heard and were able to engage authentically with the challenges they had been facing. By finding common ground they were also able to agree actionable changes to enable them to navigate current and future challenges with less friction.
Problem
An institution was struggling to manage the performance of its senior leaders. Appraisals had revealed key areas requiring improvement but HR struggled to achieve consensus with the individual or traction on how to move forwards.
Actions taken
Business and workplace mediation took place to identify key areas of concern for the individual and for the company. We acted as an impartial, neutral facilitator. We increased self-awareness for all participants and rebuilt trust and relationships to ensure that persisting conflict could be addressed allowing the team to thrive.
Outcomes
We reopened lines of communication and kept both individuals in the organisation. We added value by taking a considerate, careful, people-first approach to leadership challenges and managing personalities, opinions and perspectives.
