Problem
A Chair and CEO needed to deploy a new and complex strategy requiring a corporate reorganisation and unanimous board approval. The board of directors were sceptical and disengaged about embarking on partially formed proposals. Our strategic advisory input was requested to help them chart the new course and reach implementation.
Actions taken
Outcomes
We worked with the board and wider leadership team to implement the proposals following board approval and to ensure that the operational framework was sufficient for sustainable operations going forward. We added value by identifying the cultural issues and made recommendations to improve operational performance.
- Are your board meetings boring?
- Does your board lack a clear sense of purpose?
- Is your board is struggling to help your organisation deliver on its vision and mission?
- Are your board members disengaged, uncommunicative, unhappy?
- Is your board is unable to retain diverse talent?
- Is your board is too large?
If the answer to any of these questions is YES, we can help!
The UK Corporate Governance Code recommends FTSE 350 companies conduct external board reviews every three years to address these issues. This will help you avoid the headache of treading water for too long.
- Does your board reflect the values of your organisation?
- How do people in your organisation respond when they've made the wrong decision?
- What structures exist for the leadership team to receive internal feedback?
- How is diversity valued in relation to the quality of work produced by your organisation?
- How is trust evidenced between you, your colleagues and your leadership?
